Personal Web Hosting Service

The Personal Web Hosting Service enables Service Providers to offer to their end-users a hosting environment for their personal web sites. This service provides a platform-independent infrastructure necessary for creating, managing, and delivering personal web contents. The Personal Web Hosting Service features include:

Web Site Builder

The Web Site Builder Service enables end-users to publish web pages created with third party software. End-users achieve this by uploading files and images of the pre-designed web page to their personal FTP (File Transfer Protocol) site. The end-users also have the option to utilize a web-based wizard to create a web site from a list of pre-defined templates. The users can choose from more than 100 pre-created website styles. The web-based wizard walks the end-user through an information collection process, then compiles the information into a cohesive web site.

Additional Web Site Builder features include:

  • Centralized control panel for managing all aspects of the personal web site.
  • Web-based editor called the Site Manager allows end-users to create and modify web site elements such as text, images, and navigation.
  • End-users have access to images from a Shared Image Library. End-users can build their own image library by creating new images or uploading existing ones.
  • End-users can dynamically change the “look and feel” of their web site by selecting a new style from the Style Library without changing their content.

Storage Space

The Personal Web Hosting service provides a maximum of 5 MB of storage space per web site, aggregated over the entire user base. Service Providers are equipped with administration tools to monitor their users’ space utilizations.

Personal Account Manger

The Account Manager allows end-users to manage their personal information, including password, name and billing address. Changes can be made to all personal information except the username.

File Manager

The File Manager provides the end-user with “point-and-click” access to their files using a standard web browser. End-users can remotely browse through the directory structure and add, delete or modify their files in their FTP site. The end-users can also create access restrictions to their website through the File Manager. A password is required for a viewer to gain access to a restricted personal web site.

Site Reports

The Site Reports feature provides reports about disk space availability and usage statistics for the user’s personal web site.
